Lecture course. Emphasizes the systems approach to neuroscience and examines several neural systems from among consciousness, thinking, selection of action, higher visual and motor processes, learning and memory, attention, and emotion. Emphasizes experimental work from functional neuroimaging in humans, behavioral neurophysiology, and observations from human pathology. Prerequisites: BN 1 and 103 or permission.

A lecture and computing lab course providing an introduction to quantitative analysis of neural activity and encoding, as well as modeling of neurons and neural systems. Emphasizes Matlab-based computer simulation. Enrollment limited to 10.
